How are you dressed today? Are you feeling a little squeeze around the waistband after the Christmas festivities?

As we approach the beginning of 2013, maybe you are making every effort to resolve to lose the excess pounds that you gained over Christmas? Whilst becoming fitter and healthier in 2013 is an honourable goal, my mind is also turning to God’s desire for me AND for you:

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience…

Colossians 3: 12.

As His chosen one’s, we are to be clothed according to His will – with compassionate hearts, when we meet others who are suffering are we compassionate? Do we make time for them?

Kindness doesn’t just mean sharing what we have but it extends to being kind with our responses, kind to those who do not think about things the way that we do, kind towards the unlovely…

God is so patient with His church, with His people, with me… My prayer is that I will imitate Jesus in 2013, by His grace I will become more patient, kind, compassionate, meek and humble…

May He bless you and yours in the coming year. May He provide you with strength for each day to follow Him, regardless of what those around you are doing. You alone will give account for your life at the end, remain faithful to God during times of adversity, especially during times of adversity.
