Where do you go when you literally feel as though you are clinging on to your faith with your finger tips? When you know the ‘theological’ answers and yet they somehow do not penetrate to the parts that need soothing or satisfying. What do you do when you find yourself even in the Valley of the Shadow of Death and the enemy of your soul is allowed to whisper and persuade and you find no solace?

Many Christians are facing immense pressures, sickness and grief. It’s just not factual to say that during these times that we will feel that expected sense of God’s presence. Life experience has taught me that even through my darkest times, the enemy is looming close. In all honesty his words can be so convincing that I begin to believe them… That is until I remember, he is the father of all lies. He covets something that he cannot have. He desires my soul and he forgets the great price that was paid at Calvary. He forgets that precious blood that was shed for me. For me…

How can we begin to find light at the end of a very dark and long tunnel? We can meditate upon that verse that children sing so beautifully:

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path

Sometimes our paths are so dark, so lonely and painful that the only way we will move on to another stretch is by using His Word, God’s promises, to pave the way.

The enemy of our souls will use anything and anyone he can to destroy us, our testimony or our reputation. Those that help him are workers with him. Remember Jesus’s actions when He was facing His accusers, as prophesied:

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth.

Isaiah 53 v 7.

The enemy is never far away, his minions are at work but Christ is the Victor. Use the Word as lamp. The world is so much clearer when we have a great light in which to see.

With Christian love and prayers.
